It seems even though he is 73, Shigeru Miyamoto has no intention of retiring or even slowing down anytime soon. He hopes to keep doing games for another ten years or so. However, his family’s urging him to take it easy.

In an interview with Famitsu reported by Nintendo Everything, he said:

"Ah, yes, that’s right. The feeling of ‘I hope we can keep going’ fits perfectly. On set, we say things like, ‘It wouldn’t be surprising if I collapsed tomorrow, so make sure you’re okay (laughs).’ I just hope we can keep going without any problems."

While he no longer directly oversees major projects as he once did, he remains deeply involved in Nintendo’s productions, films, and theme parks. Miyamoto explains that his motivation remains as strong as ever and that he has no specific end-of-career goal in mind.

He prefers to gradually pass on his experience to the next generations rather than prepare for an immediate departure. In his view, Nintendo’s future rests on a team of talented creators capable of carrying on this vision.

His message is clear: as long as he can make a meaningful contribution, he intends to keep doing so.
