The start of the school year has arrived, bringing with it some major releases. The Blood of Dawnwalker, Orbitals, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and NBA 2K27 are all on the schedule for the coming days.

Let’s start with a single-player survival game set in space. Players must craft tools and then upgrade them to gather resources and save the galaxy, though in some good fun.

This cooperative Souls-like action RPG can be played solo or in a duo. You’ll have to engage in intense melee combat during extremely risky missions. The difficulty adjusts dynamically.

Aerial Knight’s MrFreezy

Inspired by film noir, this puzzle game puts you in the shoes of a female serial killer who decapitates men. You’ll need to move, swap, and align the heads to be able to slice them off in a single stroke.

WheelMates

Get ready for a cooperative driving adventure behind the wheel of two remote-controlled cars. You’ll explore a professor’s laboratory, find hidden passages, and solve puzzles in vast environments.

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault

• September 2, 2026, on Version 1.0 for PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC

Having been in Early Access since last November, this roguelike action-RPG is finally available in its final version. You play as an adventurer-merchant who must face enemies, collect loot, and manage your inventory wisely. The game also features a shop management component.

Withering Realms

Next up is a horror action-RPG conceived by the creator of Withering Rooms. A ghost and her guardian doll explore the strange town of Penwyll, with its cemeteries, caves, and other ruined estates teeming with creatures.

BOMBANANA!

• September 2, 2026 on PC

Here’s a fun game to play with friends where you take on the role of monkey bomb-defusers. Each team of three monkeys consists of a blind monkey, a deaf monkey, and a mute monkey. To solve the puzzles, communication is essential, and you’ll need to adapt to each other’s disabilities.

BioEden

• September 3, 2026 on PC

This peaceful adventure puts you in the shoes of a geoguard trying to bring life back to a planet. To do so, you must craft the ideal biome to support dozens of living species.

The Blood of Dawnwalker

This open-world action-RPG, created by former developers of The Witcher, is set in 14th-century Europe. Coen, a human by day and a vampire by night, fights to save his family. The story will unfold based on the player’s choices.

SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed

• September 3, 2026, on PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch, and PC

This competitive platformer challenges up to eight players (online or locally) to be the first to reach the end of a level. To do so, players must master the gameplay by jumping or using a grappling hook to move as quickly as possible.

Orbitals

An intergalactic epic for two players who must work together in a unique retro anime universe await. Maki and Omura will face the perils of space as they search for supplies to save their dilapidated station, which is trapped in a cosmic storm.

Donutal

This game is an adventure centered around conversations with aliens. Your character must question these extraterrestrial life forms as they arrive on Earth. You’ll need to uncover their true intentions to avert disaster.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game

Already available on other platforms since July, this 2D fighting game features hand-drawn animations. It stays true to the series and includes a dozen playable characters.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Complete Edition

Released in March 2023, this soulslike action-RPG is coming to Nintendo’s console this week. This complete edition includes the full game and its three DLCs. Players can explore a dark fantasy version of ancient China.

Dungeon Settlers

Let’s continue our list with a dungeon-crawler-based colony simulator in which you must lead a clan to establish a colony in barren lands. Providing food and shelter for your people will be essential.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Capcom is set to make a big splash with the return of the Onimusha franchise. This all-new installment will have you exploring Edo-period Kyoto as a samurai wearing an Oni gauntlet. You’ll face off against monsters from the underworld in dynamic battles.

Scavland

This hardcore survival RPG, featuring pixel art and a top-down view, plunges us into a post-apocalyptic Soviet world. We’ll be able to explore desolate lands and bunkers through dangerous missions.

MY HERO ACADEMIA: All’s Justice

The 3D fighting game based on the famous anime is finally coming to Switch 2. It still features a large roster of 68 playable characters and extremely fast-paced 3-on-3 battles.

NBA 2K27

The next-gen basketball sim is coming to consoles and PC. It still includes the MyCAREER, MyTEAM, and MyNBA modes, along with several improvements.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of The Mutants – Ninja Edition
