After being closed back in June 2025 when Ubisoft gave up on the project, XDefiant servers could soon make a comeback thanks to a small team of external developers.

In fact, these fans of the multiplayer FPS have set up a private server capable of hosting XDefiant matches. The project is still in its early stages, but a first look was provided in a video on Reddit.

"Over the past few months, we’ve been working on a private server for XDefiant and have decided to finally give you a first look.

Although there’s still a lot of development work to be done, we’ve managed to decipher and reproduce the various network protocols used in the game."

A Discord server has been set up to track the project’s progress. XDefiant is not currently playable, and fans are taking steps to avoid sharing content that would infringe on copyright.
