Sony has confirmed that the company's upcoming single-player games will be exclusive to PlayStation consoles

It’s official now: Sony will no longer release its single-player games on PC. Jason Schreier, a reporter at Bloomberg, has provided some new details on the matter.

During a meeting held this Monday, Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios, confirmed to employees that narrative titles will remain exclusive to the PS5. This will be the case of titles such as Marvel’s Wolverine and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. However, multiplayer games like Horizon Hunters Gathering and Fairgame$ could end up coming to other platforms.

A PlayStation spokesperson has declined to comment on the report. Several projects that were in development, including the PC port of Ghost of Yotei, have been scrapped. Although published by the Japanese company, Kena: Scars of Kosmora is still scheduled for release on PC.

One of the reasons behind this strategic shift is the disappointing sales of Sony’s narrative games on PC. The company reportedly fears that these failures could tarnish the brand’s image while affecting PS5 sales. Furthermore, since the next Xbox will be compatible with PC game libraries, some Sony executives may be reluctant to see PlayStation Studios games running on Microsoft’s console.
