Marathon is getting a full PvE mode with its third season this September
Bungie is going all out to revive Marathon, even if it means abandoning the game’s exclusively PvP focus. With a peak of just 6,775 concurrent players on Steam over the past 24 hours, the competitive FPS appears to be in serious trouble.
As a result, Season 3, which begins on September 22, will offer players the chance to try out a fully PvE mode. Bungie hasn’t revealed the exact release date for this major update just yet, which will disable the PvP aspect to prioritize exploration and playing with friends.
Additionally, from July 21 to August 4, Marathon players will have access to Vault Breaker, another experimental PvE mode with roguelite elements, which will serve as a foundation for the major update expected in September.
