Changes just keep coming for Xbox. The head of the company’s internal studios is finally stepping down just 18 months after taking the role.

Known for having led Rare (Sea of Thieves) for nearly 14 years, Craig Duncan took the helm of Xbox Game Studios in November 2024. His departure will take effect this week. A replacement has not yet been named. As a result, the brand’s studios will report directly to Matt Booty, Xbox’s chief content officer, during this transition.

Louise O’Connor, who was named chief of staff for Xbox Game Studios last year, will also be leaving the American company.
