Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave Review: the Switch 2 gets one of the best games of the year
The Switch 2 welcomes yet another exclusive this week. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is the latest entry in the tactical RPG franchise by Intelligent Systems. The game launches on Nintendo’s console this Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The press has had a chance to try it and here’s the verdict. On Metacritic, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave currently boasts an average score of 89% based on 60 reviews. On OpenCritic, the score stands at 90% based on 19 reviews.
As for the strong points, this entry boasts polished gameplay, compelling storylines for the four protagonists, lots of freedom in terms of progression, and extremely in-depth MC customization. The battles are also very intense, and the management system is engaging. The soundtrack is no slouch either.
As for the drawbacks, the combat ends being somewhat repetitive combat, graphics can look a bit dated, and difficulty isn’t always well-balanced.
