XBOX considers fable to be essential to its ecosystem
The long hiatus for Fable will come to an end on February 23 thanks to the reboot developed by Playground Games (Forza Horizon). The open-world action-RPG will undoubtedly have no room for error after this seemingly endless dry spell for the series.
In an interview with The Guardian, Ralph Fulton, the game’s director, revealed that Fable holds an important place within XBOX. There are many executives at the company that consider the franchise essential to the platform.
"I genuinely think Fable is an important game. What has protected us over a long development cycle is that so many people within XBOX view Fable as vital to the DNA of the platform. I would go a step further and say it’s important to video games as a whole. It offers a combination of elements that simply doesn’t exist anywhere else."
According to several reports, development on Fable began in 2016. That would mean the title has been in the works for ten years, so it’s a project that will undoubtedly be very difficult for XBOX to turn a profit on.
