Hideki Kamiya is still willing to bring back Scalebound with XBOX

Announced at E3 in June 2014, Scalebound was supposed to be an Xbox One-exclusive action-RPG in which the player controlled a hero accompanied by a giant dragon. Unfortunately, PlatinumGames, which was leading the project, experienced significant tensions with Microsoft, which decided to cancel the title in January 2017.

At the time, the director of Scalebound—none other than the highly charismatic Hideki Kamiya—had harsh words for Xbox. However, a few years later, the situation has changed, and Kamiya has repeatedly stated that he is ready to revive the project.

If we are to believe his most recent interview with VGC, his stance hasn’t changed. The site asked Kamiya if he had spoken with Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Xbox, about a possible return of Scalebound.

"Well, no, but now’s my opportunity to once again say that if they want to do it, let’s make it happen! Koyama [CLOVERS co-founder] is on board too. If you could include some footage [of Scalebound] in your article for Asha, that would be useful."

Of course, such a project is far from a done deal… Especially at a time when Microsoft wants to focus solely on well-established franchises.
