Sony thinks Season 2 of Marathon has been a success
During the presentation of its financial results for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, Sony had only a few words to say about Marathon. Bungie remains a sensitive topic for PlayStation due to the Destiny 2 development fiasco and the layoffs that took place last month.
As a result, during its earnings announcement, the Japanese company only issued a brief statement regarding Bungie’s competitive FPS. Sony expressed satisfaction with the launch of Season 2, which reportedly maintained a fairly high player retention rate.
"With the release of Season 2 in June, Marathon has maintained a high user retention rate while also acquiring new users."
Of course, we have no specific figures. At the time of this writing, Marathon has recorded a peak of 6,271 concurrent players on Steam over the past 24 hours.
