The number of Assassin's Creed Odyssey players has skyrocketed thanks to Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey

It appears that Ubisoft’s excellent title Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is benefiting from a popular movie currently playing in theaters. It’s a Greek blockbuster called The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, which is on track to surpass the $1 billion mark at the box office. The film has sparked significant interest in Greece and its landscapes.

As a result, many players have picked up their controllers again to explore Greece through Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Across all gaming platforms, the user base nearly doubled last week. Notably, there was a 134% jump on Xbox.

These figures are driven by Ubisoft’s savvy decision to currently offer the title on Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, accompanied by some social media promotion.

Rhys Elliot, an analyst at Alina Analytics who shared this data, states:

"The film didn’t make millions buy an eight-year-old game, but it got a massive cohort playing it again. That data gives Ubisoft great ammunition for an eventual AC Odyssey Resynced."
