Steam generated more than $11 billion in revenue during the first half of 2026
While the video game industry is going through a very difficult period, things are looking great for several major companies. This is such a case for Valve, which has once again shattered a record thanks to Steam.
Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics revealed that the store generated $11.1 billion in gross revenue during the first half of 2026 (a 14.5% increase compared to the first half of 2025). This marks the best half-year in the company’s history. The previous record was set in the second half of 2025, with $10.3 billion in revenue.
The first half of 2026 outperformed the first half of 2017 by a factor of 4.7. Furthermore, Steam’s annual revenue climbed from approximately $5.5 billion in 2017 to $20 billion in 2025. Finally, Steam performed better in the first six months of 2026 than it did in all of 2020.
