A 2.5D beat 'em up based on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners could be in the works
Here we have a new rumor ahead of the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on Netflix this fall. It seems we may be getting a game based on the animated series.
According to the website MP1st, CD Projekt Red and WayForward (the studio behind Shantae) have reportedly teamed up to develop a video game inspired by the anime. It is said to be codenamed Gemini and is in the very early stages of development.
It could be a 2.5D beat ’em up similar to River City Girls and Double Dragon Neon, two other WayForward titles. What’s more, online multiplayer could also be part of the mix.
Finally, production is said to have begun between 2025 and 2026, but the project’s current status remains unclear. It could very well have been canceled. So, it’s best to take this with a grain of salt for now…
