XBOX is still struggling to clarify its new exclusivity policy
During its showcase last month, Xbox confirmed the return of console exclusives for some of its titles. As a result, Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be released exclusively on Xbox Series and PC.
Subsequently, the American company stated that its GAAS would still be multiplatform. As for single-player titles, it will apparently be decided on a case-by-case basis. There is therefore some confusion, since franchises like Halo, Forza Horizon, and Spyro are releasing their latest installments on other platforms.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, Matt Booty, Director of Content, and Matthew Ball, Director of Strategy, reiterated this approach, stating that exclusivity for single-player games "is certainly not a hard-and-fast rule." Ball did admit, however, that this policy "isn’t obvious to all our players," but that the company is committed to clarifying it.
Finally, Booty added that when announcing the release date for an Xbox game, the platforms will be clearly stated to avoid any confusion. Titles already confirmed for PS5 and Switch 2 will, of course, be honored.
