Toei Company (Dragon Ball, Power Rangers…) announces the creation of a gaming division
Founded in 1951 in Tokyo, Toei Company is an entertainment giant specializing in films, TV series, and animation. The Japanese firm is home to iconic franchises such as Dragon Ball, One Piece, Super Sentai (Power Rangers in the West), Saint Seiya, Digimon, and Sailor Moon.
Leveraging its expertise, Toei is now fully entering the video game market by creating a division focused on gaming. Named Toei Games, it will develop original titles for PC via Steam. Console games will follow later. Note that this first wave of games will be based solely on new licenses.
CEO Fumio Yoshimura issued a statement.
"We will leverage the technology and expertise we have developed in the field of video production for our new video game business, thereby offering Toei’s unique entertainment experience to gamers around the world."
We will likely have to be patient before we can try out these first games.
