Tim Sweeney (Epic Games) believes AI could have saved Destiny

Recently, Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, called it irresponsible of Valve to require developers to disclose their use of AI in game development. Now, the businessman believes that artificial intelligence could have come to the rescue of one specific title.

In a post responding to an article by Paul Tassi on the failure of Destiny, Sweeney shared his perspective. The Forbes journalist explained that Bungie’s game “was rarely profitable throughout its entire lifespan” due to the enormous amount of content that had to be produced constantly.

Thus, the head of Epic Games stated that AI (without mentioning it directly) could have helped the developers.

"If only some sort of newfangled technology could come along and make it possible to overcome bullet point #1 and enable games like Destiny to thrive!"

Tim Sweeney seems to believe that generative AI could have automated and simplified certain complex tasks. It could also have been used to generate content that would then be incorporated into the game.
