The Tides of Annihilation previews are quite good
A few lucky people were able to travel to China to test the highly anticipated Tides of Annihilation. The first previews are starting to appear online, and to say the least, the feedback has been (very) positive. After two hours of hands-on play, Tides of Annihilation has impressed players with its ambition and production value.
The game reimagines the apocalypse by blending a devastated London, Arthurian mythology, and fantasy worlds, with Gwendolyn as the last human. This London is particularly detailed, while the mirror worlds offer radically different environments.
Combat is one of the game’s highlights: Gwendolyn can rely on four knights with complementary powers, who can be swapped out during battles. The spectacular, multi-phase boss fights are enhanced by meticulously crafted cinematics, a soundtrack, and visual effects.
Despite its Soulslike vibe, the game prioritizes accessibility, with multiple difficulty levels and a Story mode that offers an easier experience. Customization remains intentionally simple, while exploration, puzzles, collectibles, and upgrades enrich the progression.
All in all, it certainly looks like Tides of Annihilation succeeds in combining accessibility, originality, and spectacle, making it one of the most anticipated games of the year.
