The program to convert XBOX discs into digital licenses is expected to launch as early as this month
Microsoft is working on a program that will allow players to convert their XBOX games into digital licenses. While this is something that we’ve already discussed in the past, this feature could be rolled out on a large scale in the near future.
According to an alleged roadmap shared by eXtas1s on X, the testing phase for Insider members took place in July. Starting this August 2026, the feature is expected to be made available to all XBOX One and XBOX Series X users. But that’s not all…
The same roadmap states that full backward compatibility for original XBOX games on PC is set to arrive in October 2026. The first four titles were already made available last month. Thus, this program is expected to expand very soon.
Finally, XBOX 360 games are scheduled to arrive on the future Xbox console between 2027 and 2028.
