The European Union is set to approve Saudi Arabia’s acquisition of Electronic Arts

The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and other investors announced their intention to acquire Electronic Arts in September 2025 for the staggering sum of $55 billion. Of course, this acquisition must now be approved by various regulatory bodies.

According to Reuters, which cites anonymous sources, the European Union will indeed give the green light to the transaction. This approval is reportedly made possible by EU rules on subsidies. The European Commission will announce its official decision after completing its preliminary review, which is scheduled for July 30.

It’s worth noting that, in addition to the Saudi wealth fund, Affinity Partners and the private equity firm Silver Lake are among the buyers.
