Valve has announced several improvements to two of its features on Steam. Both the wish list and gifting features have undergone changes.

It’s now easier to give a Steam gift to another user. You no longer need to have an account on the online store to give a game. Anyone with a Steam account can send a link to their wishlist so a friend can select a title to give as a gift.

Additionally, gifts can now be sent via email. Gift cards and games can be received this way. If the recipient does not accept the email within 30 days, the gift will be automatically refunded. On top of that, you can now gift a game to someone located in a different region.

As for the wishlist, it now features categories. Users can create and customize these categories for greater clarity. The search experience has been optimized, and autocomplete is now available. A badge indicating the availability of a demo for a game on the wishlist is also now available.

Micro-trailers also play when you hover over a game’s thumbnail image. Note that the wishlist has improved in contrast and readability. Finally, you can now share a wishlist by copying a simple URL to share with friends and family.
