Undead Labs has finally been saved, managing to come out the clutches of an XBOX division in the midst of a restructuring. The studio has been acquired by an unknown entity whose identity could be revealed later this summer.

This is according to a recent article on the Game File website. We’ve also learned that State of Decay 3 has not been canceled and that funding for the game remains secure. However, since Undead Labs no longer belongs to XBOX, the game is no longer required to comply with XBOX’s terms and conditions, so, the title will not be required to launch on Game Pass.

State of Decay 3 is currently still expected to release in 2027 on PS5, XBOX Series, and PC.
