Back in January 2023, Sony launched a customizable controller for the PS5. This is the DualSense Edge, priced at €219.99, and may soon get a minor update.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has published documents related to a DualSense Edge model designated CFI-ZCP2. However, the U.S. government agency has not provided any details about this controller.

Among the plausible theories, we can speculate that this might be a DualSense Edge featuring a replaceable battery. After all, a new European directive will require manufacturers to sell their products with removable batteries starting in February 2027. It’s with this in mind that Nintendo has already announced a new Switch 2 model.

Sony will also have to comply with this law for its products. This will apply to DualSense controllers and the PlayStation Portal.
