SEGA has no plans to abandon physical media

As we have seen, publishers [such as Ubisoft](https://news.instant-gaming.com/fr/articles/ 20915-ubisoft-ceo-yves-guillemot-backs-sony-on-phasing-out-physical-games) are siding with Sony on the whole affair of phasing out physical discs starting in January 2028. But this is clearly not the case for all companies.

Shuji Utsumi, SEGA’s president and chief operating officer, shared his thoughts in an interview with Famitsu. He noted that his company still relies on physical media, which provides real added value for its teams. Thus, the Japanese company is implementing a strategy to offer all of its future titles in both physical and digital formats.

"Originally, we were a hardware manufacturer, and of course, we still place great importance on our physical heritage. Rather than abandoning it completely, we are currently working to develop the ability to think about and act on key digital aspects in parallel."
