Saber Interactive says that generative AI is not being used for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3
n March 2025, Focus Entertainment Publishing, Games Workshop, and Saber Interactive jointly announced the development of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3. This third installment is highly anticipated following the success of its predecessor, released in September 2024.
However, concerns remain among fans of the franchise. Indeed, Saber has recently faced significant controversy regarding the use of generative AI in another of its games called Rideshare Stimulator. A screenwriter made headlines by claiming she was fired and then replaced by artificial intelligence.
Games Workshop, which holds the rights to the Warhammer 40,000 license, has always taken an anti-AI stance. So, during an interview with Tim Willits, the creative director at Saber Interactive, IGN asked about the use of this technology in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3. Willits responded clearly, stating that AI is not used in the game, nor in several other titles being developed by the studio.
"There is absolutely no generative AI in Space Marine 3 or Hellraiser or Stuntman or Turok or Jurassic Park, or Wick. But like we said, we’re going to experiment with it. Try it out in Rideshare, see if it works. See if people like it. If they don’t like it, we’re like, ‘All right.’ It’s a rideshare simulator. If you’re going to experiment, it’s a good one to experiment on. You know what I’m saying?"
In conclusion, no elements of Space Marine 3 will be created using generative AI.
