This week, NVIDIA confirmed a rumor that had been circulating for quite some time. The American manufacturer has redesigned the configuration of its RTX 5070 laptop GPU to offer users a new option.

This new version features 12 GB of memory, a 50% increase over the 8 GB version already available. NVIDIA released a brief statement about it.

« We are expanding our GeForce RTX laptop lineup with a new GeForce RTX 5070 GPU configuration, including a 12 GB option. Given the strong demand for GeForce RTX GPUs for laptops and the limited availability of memory, this addition optimizes available memory and gives our partners the ability to offer a broader range of laptops to consumers. »

Otherwise, the configuration remains unchanged, as the Blackwell « GB206 » GPU is still present. The 128-bit architecture with 24 Gbit/s GDDR7 modules remains in place, but now features 24 Gbit/s (3 GB) modules instead of the 16 Gbit/s (2 GB) modules from the previous iteration. Memory capacity has therefore increased by 50%.
