DLSS 5 released this Thursday, September 3, alongside NBA 2K27, and is currently exclusive to RTX 50 GPUs featuring the Blackwell architecture. However, NVIDIA plans to offer a broader compatibility.

In a statement sent to the website Wccftech, the American company said that DLSS 5 will also be available on RTX 40 series graphics cards based on the Ada Lovelace architecture. No release date has been announced yet.

"DLSS 5 is our most computationally demanding model to date. Since we initially announced it in March, we’ve achieved a 5X performance gain and there’s more to come.

Our current focus is on optimizing performance for the GeForce RTX 50 Series with model updates expected later this fall. Once RTX 50 Series performance is more fully tuned, we plan to work on expanding official support to the GeForce RTX 40 Series."

It seems many gamers will be able to enjoy the benefits of DLSS 5 without having to purchase a next-generation graphics card.
