Mortal Shell 2 is already available for owners of the Devout Edition, and it has been reviewed by the gaming press. All PS5, Xbox Series, and PC players will be able to try this dark fantasy Souls-like action-RPG starting August 20, 2026.

As of now, Mortal Shell 2 has an average Metacritic score of 84% on PC (39 reviews) and 85% on PS5 (11 reviews). On OpenCritic, the score is also 85% based on 52 reviews. So far, Steam users have given the game "very positive" reviews, with 87% of the approximately 1,300 published reviews being good on the game.

Mortal Shell 2 shines thanks to its highly rewarding exploration, great length (up to approximately 35 hours), and diverse combat styles. The bosses and dungeons are also very compelling.

Sadly, the story is somewhat confusing, there isn’t that much variety when it comes to foes, and bugs are sometimes too frequent. The difficulty can be frustrating at times, too.
