Microsoft Gaming was reportedly just a temporary legal entity created for the acquisition of Activision Blizzard

Everything (or almost everything) is changing at Xbox. The American company has notably revamped its Game Pass offering with a price cut and a brand-new plan. In addition, consoles have been put back at the center of the strategy, and exclusives could be making a big comeback.

Furthermore, Asha Sharma also appeared to be behind the decision to drop the « Microsoft Gaming » brand, which had been established during Phil Spencer’s tenure. However, insider Jez Corden may have made a surprising discovery.

According to the Windows Central reporter, « Microsoft Gaming » was actually a temporary legal entity created specifically to facilitate the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. It is therefore not surprising to see Microsoft abandon it now that the acquisition has been finalized and integrated into the company.
