The big announcement from this week’s Nintendo Direct was undoubtedly Metroid Ravenous. This new 2D installment will be released on January 28, 2027, exclusively on Switch 2.

Shortly after the game was officially announced, we got confirmation that MercurySteam is indeed leading the project. The Spanish studio has previously developed the excellent Metroid: Samus Returns and Metroid Dread. It also created Blades of Fire and the two Castlevania: Lords of Shadow games.
