Intergalactic had only a small development team before The Last of Us Online got cancelled
It’s been more than six years since Naughty Dog released any new games. The most recent one was, of course, The Last of Us Part II in June 2020. Sadly, this long dry spell is expected to last a while longer.
In fact, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier revealed that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet didn’t get the majority of its staff until after the cancellation of The Last of Us Online toward the end of 2023. As a result, full-scale production on the California-based studio’s next single-player blockbuster reportedly began less than three years ago.
Most of Naughty Dog’s employees were working on the remasters of The Last of Us and the multiplayer game. It seems Intergalactic is still several years away…
