Not all Australian players will be able to purchase GTA VI when it is released on November 19, 2026. This is because a law introduced in the country this year will require customers to confirm their age before checking out.

Since the game is restricted to those 18 and older (R18+ rating), Grand Theft Auto VI will be subject to the strictest controls. Anyone wishing to purchase it will have to confirm their age by providing a form of identification. Furthermore, in the event of violations for non-compliance, Rockstar Games could face civil penalties of up to $49.5 million per violation. Needless to say, that amount could add up very quickly.

This requirement will apply to the single-player experience of GTA VI, as well as to the multiplayer mode, which will be released later.
