Fallout 76 future may depend on third-party devs

Many projects, studios, and games face an uncertain future following the latest budget cuts by XBOX. Bethesda Softworks has been affected by this restructuring, which could result in the cancellation of certain titles.

In fact, IGN managed to contact several Bethesda Game Studios employees who wished to remain anonymous. One of them expressed particular concern about the future of Fallout 76. The team responsible for this online-focused installment, launched in 2018, has apparently been heavily impacted by layoffs.

"It seems like the company wants to make up the loss in talent with outsourcers.

I’ve heard from my colleagues that they’re already being asked to train new contractors. I have no idea how they’ll continue updating Fallout 76 without hiring an external studio."

In the past, Bethesda has partnered with Double Eleven for updates to Fallout 76. It appears that the publisher wants to focus on these external collaborations to keep all Bethesda Game Studios teams working on The Elder Scrolls VI.
