Double Fine Productions staged its departure from Microsoft with quite the funny. The studio, known for Psychonauts, Brutal Legend, Broken Age, and Keeper, is going back to the indie scene.

The crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter is now live. It will allow the studio to fund its next game through its Amnesia Fortnight, a process that invites all devs on the team to pitch game concepts. People participating in the campaign will be able to vote for the four projects that will move on to the prototype stage. A final vote will determine the grand prize winner, which will become a full-fledged game. At the same time, a documentary will be produced by 2 Player Productions.

To make the campaign a success, Double Fine is seeking nearly €345,000. As of this writing, more than €240,000 has already been raised.
