Announced in 2008, DOOM 4 never actually saw the light of day. Some of its elements were used in the 2016 installment, but what was supposed to be the true fourth installment of the FPS series has fallen into obscurity.

However, since development was quite advanced, numerous illustrations, animations, and other details have surfaced over the years. Users Runhob and WadOverdose recently shared previously unseen visuals on X. These include artwork, weapons, and enemies that were supposed to appear in DOOM 4.

Currently, id Software is facing a period of uncertainty following the layoffs carried out by Xbox last week. The American studio has nevertheless stated that it is still able to develop its own games.
