DLSS 5 will be available on September 3 with a 50 to 60% drop in performance
NVIDIA has posted more official details about the much-discussed DLSS 5. Despite the leaks over the past few days, the technology will officially launch this Thursday, September 3, 2026, for RTX 50 graphics cards. GeForce NOW will also support it.
NBA 2K27 will be the first game to benefit from it, and performance tests have been conducted on the game with DLSS 5 enabled. It’s worth noting that the technology focuses on modifying lighting and enhancing image detail. Developers will retain control over the changes made.
According to NVIDIA, enabling DLSS 5 results in a 50–60% drop in performance. On NBA 2K27, an RTX 5090 will reach up to 370 FPS at 4K with Ultra presets and ray tracing enabled. The total rises to 590 FPS at 1440p. Several comparison charts ranging from the RTX 5060 to the RTX 5090 and from 1080p to 4K resolution have been published.
More games compatible with DLSS 5 will be announced in the coming weeks and months.
