Digital sales also surpass 90% for Square Enix
The dominance of digital sales is now well established. All studios and publishers are selling more of their titles digitally than in physical format. Capcom and Sony are among the most notable examples.
This is also true for Square Enix, which has released its figures for the previous quarter. During the three months ending June 30, 2026, the Japanese company sold 6.65 million digital games compared to 730,000 physical copies. This represents 90.1% for digital and 9.9% for physical.
Thus, we can conclude that the phase-out of physical discs, set to begin in January 2028, will not have a major impact on Square Enix.
