Development of The Witcher 1 Remake seems to have been put on hold
Several The Witcher projects are currently in development in addition to the fourth installment of the series. A new The Witcher 3 DLC will be released next year, a multiplayer episode is in the works, as is a remake of The Witcher 1.
The latter is being developed by Fool’s Theory, the studio also working on the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past expansion. During his interview with The Game Business, CD Projekt RED co-CEO Michał Nowakowski was asked about this much-talked-about remake.
We learned that the project has been put on hold pending several technological advancements introduced by The Witcher 4.
"But a couple of happy accidents happened. We started a collaboration with Fool’s Theory. They were supposed to work on The Witcher 1 [remake], but we realized that needed a bit more time because of certain technology dependencies with The Witcher 4."
For now, Nowakowski has not specified the nature of these technological innovations.
