Classic XBOX games are coming to PC with a new backward compatibility program

Microsoft made a major announcement today regarding backward compatibility within its ecosystem. Games from the very first Xbox will be playable on PC and handheld consoles (such as the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X).

The first four games included in this program are available today as a preview. Those are BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fuzion Frenzy. They are now available for purchase and through Xbox Game Pass. Players who own a digital copy on a console can play it on PC and handheld consoles at no additional cost.

While the original gameplay remains intact, Microsoft has also added improvements. For example, resolution is upscaled up to x4, and vertical sync (VSync) has been added. Full-screen and windowed display modes are included, along with anisotropic filtering, improved anti-aliasing, and many other options.

Finally, achievements will be added later this year.
