Bungie reportedly hasn't started production on Destiny 3 due to budget constraints
One of the week’s biggest news stories came from Bungie. The American studio has decided to end development of Destiny 2 starting next month. This, in turn, is expected to result in layoffs.
The teams will be reassigned to Marathon and new projects. For now, Destiny 3 does not appear to be in development… Jason Schreier, a reporter at Bloomberg, briefly touched on this point in a post on Bluesky.
From his point of view, if Destiny 3 isn’t on the table yet, it’s primarily because it would be too expensive to produce. In its latest financial report, Sony revealed that Bungie suffered an estimated $769 million in impairment losses. This staggering figure will undoubtedly impact the studio’s future and the scope of its upcoming projects.
