Alpha Dog, Bethesda’s former studio specializing in mobile games, has regained its independence
Alpha Dog Games is a studio acquired by ZeniMax Media in October 2019 that’s little known to the general public. This Canadian developer, based in Halifax, released Mighty Doom in 2023 on iOS and Android.
In May 2024, Microsoft decided to shut down Alpha Dog as part of a ZeniMax restructuring that also saw Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks disappear. Tango Gameworks, however, was saved at the last minute by Krafton.
Today, we’ve learned that the studio specializing in mobile games is still alive and has regained its independence. Shawn Woods, the company’s founder, confirmed the news on his LinkedIn profile. He simply stated that Alpha Dog is "independently owned, again."
