AI was used during development of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
During its presentation at State of Play this week, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis confirmed its release date has been pushed back to February 12, 2027. Additionally, the remake of the first game in the series looked quite impressive graphically.
However, some users noticed a mention on the game’s Steam page that remains a topic of debate. It seems Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog used artificial intelligence during development.
"AI-assisted tools were used during development to support some early exploration and temporary development content. Any AI-assisted assets were either replaced or refined by humans in order to maintain the creative and artistic vision of the development team."
So, this message seems to suggest that elements designed using AI could be found in the game with some improvements by the developers. Crystal Dynamics later clarified its position with the website Eurogamer. The studio says it uses "AI tools to help our teams iterate on ideas more quickly and efficiently, while ensuring that all finalized content in the final game is designed by humans".
