Rockstar Games hasn’t provided details on the exact technical specifications of GTA VI for consoles yet. However, it now appears certain that the frame rate will be locked at 30 frames per second. We’ve also learned that first-person camera mode won’t be available at launch on November 19, 2026.

Now, Digital Foundry has shared its observations regarding the Grand Theft Auto VI presentation aired on Netflix this week. The analysts found the footage impressive and agree that the resolution corresponds to native 1440p at 30 FPS.

The displayed 4K image isn’t sharp, suggesting that modern upscaling technologies (FSR 2, TAA) are being used. This would explain the slight blurriness, geometric aliasing, and flickering of certain details.

Additionally, a few rare frame rate drops were observed. Rockstar has nonetheless managed to work wonders on such a visually demanding title. Unfortunately, according to Digital Foundry, a 60 FPS mode "is extremely unlikely" on console. The effort required would already be far too great just to balance the CPU and GPU load at 30 FPS.

Finally, on the PS5 Pro, analysts expect to see higher-quality ray tracing effects and a sharper image, thanks to the console’s more powerful GPU.
