Nintendo will produce 20 million Switch 2 by March 2027
Nintendo will ramp up production of the Switch 2 over the coming year. Since its release in June 2025, the console has sold 19.86 million units worldwide.
Despite the price increase to €499.99, which will take effect on September 1, the company has decided to boost production by 20% compared to last year. Bloomberg reports that 20 million Switch 2 units will be manufactured by March 2027. In its latest financial report, the company stated its goal of selling 16.5 million units during its next fiscal year.
To sell such a large volume of consoles, Nintendo will need to release highly anticipated games. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book has just been released, Star Fox will be available starting June 25, and Splatoon Raiders will follow on July 23, 2026. A new 3D Mario and a Zelda title could also join the Switch 2 lineup in the coming months.
