GTA VI: Take-Two clarifies that console exclusivity Is designed to serve its core player base

In an interview with Bloomberg, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, couldn’t dodge the question about the launch of GTA VI exclusively on consoles this coming November. A PC version will follow later.

Zelnick explained that this decision is tied to Rockstar Games’ history and the desire to prioritize serving its « core player base ».

« Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you’re judged by serving the core. Like really serving the core consumer. If your core consumer isn’t there, if they’re not served first and best, you kind of don’t hit your other consumers. »

Finally, the businessman emphasized that the console exclusivity of GTA VI is not linked to the marketing agreement with Sony. He noted that « historically, Rockstar has always prioritized consoles ».
