Steam Deck: an update brings remote downloads and other new features
On April 28, the Steam Deck received a new system update via its stable channel. The patch included various fixes as well as new features.
Among the major additions is the introduction of a remote download management tool. This makes it possible to control downloads from another device running the Steam client, such as a mobile device.
Also worth noting is the move of Steam Chat to the quick navigation menu, making it more easily accessible while gaming. A quick chat feature for Steam Deck and Big Picture mode is also included. Quick messages are now customizable via keyboard settings.
Additionally, a low-battery notification for wireless controllers and a battery indicator for these devices are now included. A setting to display the « Switch to desktop » option has been added to the login screen. Valve has also optimized compatibility with Wi-Fi networks requiring additional authentication.
Finally, numerous fixes for game recording, Steam Cloud, and Steam Input are included in this update.
