The PS6 Portable's GPU is said to outperform that of the Xbox Series S

Sony is reportedly developing the PlayStation 6 Portable, which is said to offer performance that potentially surpasses that of the Xbox Series S, particularly in terms of rasterization and ray tracing.

According to leaks from KeplerL2, a reputable AMD insider, this portable model would feature a modern AMD architecture with Zen 6 cores, an RDNA 5 GPU, and 24 GB of DDR5 RAM, making it a very powerful machine for a portable device. It is expected to offer image quality superior to that of the Nintendo Switch 2.

One of the key features is said to be PSSR 3 upscaling technology, which could offer superior image quality compared to competing solutions like NVIDIA’s DLSS, further enhancing the device’s visual advantage. Thanks to these features, the console aims to deliver a high-end mobile experience, surpassing even some current portable or hybrid consoles.

On NeoGAF forums, he states:

"The GPU is slightly ahead of the XSS in rasterization (and of course far ahead in Ray Tracing/Path Tracing). […] The Switch 2 only supports DLSS 2 (CNN), and some games even use the less powerful DLSS Lite. FSR5/PSSR3 (from the portable PS6) will offer better image quality than the current DLSS 4.5."

Obviously, all of this is just rumor at this point, so we should remain cautious and take this information with a grain of salt.
