Valve apparently hasn't made much progress in the design phase for the Steam Deck 2

The RAM shortage has hit Valve hard in recent weeks. The price of the Steam Deck has skyrocketed, reaching as high as €919 for the most expensive model. So much so that the very existence of the Steam Deck 2 could have been called into question.

In an interview with IGN, Valve developer Pierre-Loup Griffais addressed this issue. If we are to believe his statements, the company is still searching for a solution to work around the memory shortage and to bring significant improvements to this next-generation Steam Deck.

"We’ve already mentioned our desire to ensure very specific performance improvements for a future Steam Deck, and I think we still view it the same way.

It’s simply a matter of analyzing the current situation and seeing how and when we can deliver such a product. But when it comes to the user experience and the product we’re developing, our goals are very similar."

In the past, an insider revealed that Valve hoped to launch the Steam Deck 2 in 2028. Of course, the company has never confirmed this information.
