Spring 2027 will be a very busy time for new releases in the gaming world. Some brand-new franchises will try to stand out from the crowd, and CLUTCH will be one of them. Maverick Games’ open-world racing game looks very promising so far.

To promote the highly anticipated game coming to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, Mike Brown, the creative director of CLUTCH and former director of Forza Horizon 5, gave an interview to The Game Business. He specifically addressed the competition with the Playground Games franchise.

According to Brown, CLUTCH will complement Forza Horizon with a more narrative-driven approach.

"We’re not so silly as to claim that we’re going to kill Forza Horizon. Any game maker where their pitch is to usurp the dominant market leader, that’s a really high risk.

If we swap genres and say ‘we’re going to kill Call of Duty’, no one’s going to give you money to do that because it’s stupid. CLUTCH was always intended to be complementary to Forza."
