The technical and visual improvements for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch 2 are quite significant

This Wednesday, Nintendo released a major update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch 2. This free patch notably added eight-player local multiplayer and technical improvements to take full advantage of the console’s capabilities.

Once again, the YouTube channel El Analista De Bits offers a brief comparison to illustrate these changes. First of all, the visual quality is better than ever, with 2160p resolution at 60 FPS when docked, compared to the Switch 1’s 1080p. In handheld mode, the resolution is 1080p at 60 FPS (720p on the Switch).

It’s worth noting that load times have also been significantly reduced. Loading a race takes 3.5 seconds on the Switch 2, compared to about 9.3 seconds on the Switch 1.

Finally, four- and eight-player split-screen multiplayer caps the frame rate at 30 frames per second on the Switch 2.
