Chosun, South Korea’s most widely circulated daily newspaper, has just dropped a real bomb. According to the report, Nexon is reportedly doing everything it can to buy the rights to StarCraft from Blizzard Entertainment.

It’s worth noting that Nexon recently secured the rights to develop a StarCraft shooter. Chosun reports that a "key industry insider" made the following statement:

"A contract between Nexon and Blizzard regarding the StarCraft license is about to be finalized. It appears that once this contract is signed, Nexon will hold the rights to develop a true sequel to the StarCraft game."

Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt for now. BlizzCon 2026, which will be held on September 12 and 13, could be a good indicator as to where things will go next. Observers expect to see Nexon’s shooter at the event.
